Miss Jean Arokiasamy is a consultant obstetrician at East Surrey Hospital Surrey and Sussex Healthcare Trust since 2008.
She is the co-lead for maternal medicine services at East Surrey Hospital. During her long tenure at ESH she developed an extensive local network of physicians who help to provide a comprehensive and exacting standard of care for the women with medical complexities within the area. She delivers the diabetic and endocrine services, maternal medicine clinics as well as her passion in providing care for women with neurological disease and inflammatory bowel disease. She contributes to the local MDT. In dealing with a high-risk cohort of patients she obtained a qualification in clinical risk management and litigation from Capsticks. It has held her in good stead for supporting risk management and challenging this aspect as a tool for training and learning within the department.
Having worked in Malaysia, her home country, she brings an ease in providing care for women from different ethnic diversities, depravity and addressing the needs from both the asylum seekers and refugees within her area of practice. She is also involved as an international health consultant in the development of women’s health care internationally.
She has a deep-seated passion for the education and training of medical students, junior doctors across the board and the midwifery teams. This is within her role as an educational and clinical supervisor/ KSS deanery.
