The South West London & Surrey Heartlands Maternal Medicine Network recently hosted the London Obstetric Medicine Group Meeting on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the prestigious Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists on Union Street, London. This well-attended event focused on three cases of women presenting with neurological symptoms in the third trimester, providing a valuable learning opportunity for attendees. The evening was chaired by Dr. Siara Teelucksingh, Co-Lead Obstetric Physician of the South West London & Surrey Heartlands Maternal Medicine Network, who facilitated insightful discussions and engagement among participants.
Distinguished guest speakers added to the event’s success, with Professor Hannah Cock, Consultant Neurologist and Professor of Epilepsy at St George’s Hospital, sharing her expertise on dissociative seizures and epileptic seizures in pregnancy. Dr. Puneet Kakar, Stroke Consultant at Epsom & St Helier Hospitals, also provided valuable insights into the management of stroke during pregnancy. The meeting served as a platform for collaboration, education, and the exchange of knowledge among professionals in the field of Obstetric Medicine and Neurology.
